4. Why do we process personal data?

We process personal data for the following purposes:

  • processing and fulfilling orders;
  • delivering and monitoring our services;
  • providing information about an order’s status;
  • answering questions and providing customer service;
  • handling complaints, warranty claims and refunds;
  • processing payments and refunds;
  • preventing misuse, fraud and security incidents;
  • improving our website and services;
  • maintaining administration and accounts;
  • complying with legal obligations;
  • handling disputes or legal claims.

5. Grounds for processing

We process personal data only when there is a valid legal basis for doing so.

Performance of the agreement

We process data when this is necessary to process, deliver or verify your order, or to communicate with you about it.

Legal obligation

We process and store data when necessary for purposes such as administration, tax legislation or other legal obligations.

Legitimate interest

We process data for purposes including security, fraud prevention, customer service, dispute resolution and improving our services.

Consent

We ask for consent when legally required, for example, for certain cookies or marketing communications. You can withdraw your consent at any time.

Our legitimate interests include securing our website, preventing misuse and fraud, improving our services, handling complaints and protecting our legal position.

6. Payments through Mollie and Cardinity

Payments are processed through Mollie and Cardinity .

When you make a payment, Mollie and/or Cardinity may process personal data necessary to complete, verify and secure the payment. This may include your name, payment method, bank or card payment details, transaction number, payment amount, payment status, IP address and data used for fraud prevention.

SocialKings only receives the payment information necessary to process your order, confirm payment, issue refunds, prevent fraud and maintain records. SocialKings does not store full card numbers or CVC codes in its own online shop database.

Mollie and Cardinity may also process personal data as independent controllers for their own legal, financial, fraud prevention and payment obligations. The privacy statements of Mollie and Cardinity apply to this processing.

7. Sharing personal data with third parties

We do not sell your personal data.

We only share personal data with third parties when this is necessary for our services, business operations, legal obligations or legitimate interests.

We may share personal data with:

  • payment service providers, including Mollie and Cardinity;
  • hosting providers and website infrastructure providers;
  • email, chat and customer service providers;
  • analytics providers, if used;
  • bookkeepers, accountants and tax advisers;
  • legal advisers or debt collection agencies, if necessary;
  • security and fraud prevention providers;
  • government agencies, regulators or courts when legally required.

When a third party processes personal data on our behalf, we make appropriate arrangements to protect your personal data. When a third party is an independent controller, that party is responsible for processing the personal data.

8. International transfers

We try to process personal data within the European Economic Area as much as possible.

If personal data is processed outside the European Economic Area, we do so only when there is a valid legal basis or appropriate safeguard, such as an adequacy decision, standard contractual clauses or another safeguard permitted under privacy legislation.

9. How long do we retain personal data?

We do not retain personal data longer than necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, unless we are legally required to retain it for longer.

In principle, we apply the following retention periods:

  • Order and delivery data: a maximum of 24 months after the last order, for customer service, warranty matters, dispute handling and fraud prevention.
  • Support messages by email or chat: a maximum of 24 months after the last contact, for customer service and complaint handling.
  • Payment and refund data: a maximum of 7 years when it forms part of our records.
  • Invoices and accounting records: 7 years, due to statutory record keeping obligations.
  • IP addresses and security logs: usually a maximum of 6 months, unless longer retention is required to investigate fraud, misuse or security incidents.
