Quote View Tweets of a post

Quote Tweets van een bericht bekijken

Do you want to view Quote Tweets of a post? Open the original post on X. Then tap or click the number of Reposts or the Repost overview. Choose Quotes when that tab is available. You will then see the public Quote posts that X links to the original post.

The list you see is not always complete. Quote posts from protected accounts are only visible to approved followers. Deleted posts, blocked accounts, sensitive content, search filters, and temporary loading issues can also affect what you see.

Below you will find the correct steps for iPhone, Android, and x.com. You will also learn how to search manually when the Quotes tab is missing and why the number of Quotes sometimes does not match the visible list.

What is a Quote Tweet on X?

On X, a Quote Tweet is now called a Quote post. Someone shares an existing post and adds their own comment above it. According to X, that person can also add their own media, such as an image, video, or GIF.

The original post stays included as a reference in the Quote post. That usually lets you go back from the added comment to the source.

A Quote post is different from a regular Repost. A regular Repost shares the original post without new comment. A Quote post creates a new post with its own discussion around the added text or media.

Do you want to understand that difference first? Read Retweet versus Quote Tweet.

Where can you find the Quotes of a post?

First open the post itself. Do not rely only on a screenshot or a small preview in your timeline. Look under the post for the numbers for replies, Reposts, and Likes. Tap or click the Repost number or the related interaction area.

When X shows the data separately, choose the Quotes tab. You will then see the Quote posts that are public and that your account can access.

The exact wording and the position of this option can differ by app version. Sometimes X shows a direct split between Reposts and Quotes. In another version, you first have to open the general Repost overview.

Do you see no number and no separate Quotes tab? Then there may simply be no visible Quote posts yet. It could also be a protected post, a temporary loading error, or another X layout.

How do you view Quote posts on iPhone?

Follow these steps on an iPhone:

  1. Open the X app.
  2. Find the original post.
  3. Tap the post to open the full detail page.
  4. Tap the Repost number or the interaction row below the post.
  5. Choose Quotes when that tab appears.
  6. Tap a Quote post to read the full comment and the replies.

If you only open the quick Repost menu, you will mostly see the options to create your own Repost or Quote post. That is not the same as the overview of people who already shared the post. So tap the visible number or open the detail page first.

If the tab is missing in the app, copy the address of the original post and open x.com in Safari. The web version can sometimes show a clearer interaction overview.

How do you view Quote posts on Android?

The route on Android is very similar to iPhone:

  1. Open the original post in the X app.
  2. Go to the full detail page of the post.
  3. Tap the number of Reposts or the interaction overview.
  4. Open Quotes if X shows this category.
  5. View the results your account can access.

Does the overview not work? Then update the app and fully close it. After that, open the post again through the direct address.

Do not tap only the Repost icon. That menu is mainly meant for creating your own regular Repost or Quote post. For existing Quotes, you need the interaction overview of the original post.

How do you view Quote posts on x.com?

Open x.com in your browser and sign in. Go to the original post. Click the number of Reposts or the interaction overview under the post. Then choose Quotes when the tab is available.

A computer is especially useful for a large discussion. You can open several Quote posts in new tabs. That keeps the original post next to them, so you can compare context more easily.

Device Path Result Common mistake
iPhone Post, detail page, Repost number, Quotes Visible Quote posts Tapping only the share icon
Android Post, interaction overview, Quotes Public and accessible Quotes Using an old app version
Computer x.com, original post, Repost overview, Quotes Clear browser overview Not being signed in

X’s interface can change often. So always look for Reposts, Quotes, or the interaction overview under the original post.

What do you do when the Quotes tab is missing?

First check whether a visible Quote post exists at all. A Repost total can combine regular Reposts and Quotes. If nobody added their own comment, the Quotes list may stay empty.

Then try the following fixes:

  1. Open the full detail page of the original post.
  2. Update the X app to the latest version.
  3. Use x.com in a browser.
  4. Test the page on a different network.
  5. Search for the exact text or the direct address of the post.
  6. Wait a few minutes if the Quote post was just published.

Do not change your privacy settings just to fix a missing tab. First test the post in the app and in the web version.

If X does not show the tab in your current interface, you can use the search function. This method is a useful backup, but it does not guarantee a complete list.

How do you search for Quote posts manually?

Copy the direct address of the original post. Paste that address into X’s search bar and check both Top and Latest. Quote posts point to the original and may therefore be found through the link or recognizable text.

You can also search for the username of the original author together with a distinctive sentence from the post. Narrow the date range when you are looking for Quotes from an older post.

Keep active search filters in mind. Safe search can exclude sensitive content. Accounts you muted or blocked may also disappear from the results. The same applies when an account has blocked you.

X says that search does not have to show every post. So an empty search result does not prove that no Quote posts exist.

Why is the visible number not the same as the list?

A total under the original post can include different sharing actions. The separate list shows only content that still exists and that your account is allowed to view.

A difference can happen, for example, because:

  • some shares are regular Reposts;
  • a Quote post was deleted;
  • the quoting account is protected;
  • you blocked or muted the account;
  • the quoting account blocked you;
  • X limited the content;
  • the app is still showing old data;
  • the list has not fully refreshed yet.

So use the total as a general measure of engagement. Use the list to read the available public comments. Do not expect every number under the post to equal one visible profile or one readable Quote.

Can you see Quote posts from protected accounts?

You can only see a Quote post from a protected account if you are an approved follower and the content is accessible under X’s rules. Protected posts are not public.

X also says that followers cannot Repost a protected post or share it with comment through the Repost icon. A Quote post that was created by a protected account remains limited to that account’s approved followers.

Do not use an outside tool that claims it can make protected Quotes visible for you. Such a service cannot bypass X’s privacy settings in a legitimate way. It can, however, cost you your password, account details, or access to your profile.

A screenshot shared outside X does not prove that the Quote post still exists. It also does not prove that the content was ever public.

Can you see who posted a regular Repost and who posted a Quote?

When X separates the interactions, you can view regular Reposts and Quotes separately. A regular Repost has no own comment. A Quote post is a new post with added text or media.

The visible lists can be incomplete because of privacy settings, deletion, and access limits. The interface can also differ by device or app version.

Open a Quote post on its own detail page. That way you can see the full comment, the replies, and the reference to the original post.

Do not confuse a reply with a Quote post. A reply sits in the conversation under the original post. A Quote post appears as a standalone post on the profile of the person who quoted the original post.

Does the original author get a notification of every Quote post?

X may show notifications about interactions, but notification filters, account settings, and platform choices determine what someone actually sees. So do not use notifications as a reliable or complete list of all Quote posts.

X says the original author is not automatically added to a new conversation when someone replies to a Quote post. If the writer of the Quote post wants to involve the original author, that person can mention the username.

Mention someone only when it is truly relevant. A large account can otherwise send a lot of unwanted attention to a smaller account through a Quote post.

If you mainly want to respond to the original point, a direct reply under the original post may be clearer than a Quote post.

What happens if the original post is deleted?

A regular Repost disappears according to X when the original post is deleted or the original account disappears. With a Quote post, the person’s own comment may remain as a standalone post. The included reference may then no longer show the same source.

That can make an old Quote post unclear. Read the comment carefully when the original post is no longer available. Do not draw big conclusions from a single reaction without knowing the original source.

Did the quoting person only write “This” or “Agree”? Then the Quote post has little meaning without the original.

Do not keep a copy of private or deleted content without a good reason. Respect the privacy of the accounts involved and the choice to delete a post.

Why do you not see your own Quote post in the overview?

First check whether you really published the Quote post. A draft or interrupted upload does not count. Open your own profile and look in the regular posts tab and in the replies tab.

Then check the following points:

  • you used the correct account;
  • the original post is still online;
  • your account is not restricted;
  • your Quote post was not deleted;
  • the X app is updated;
  • the interaction list had enough time to refresh;
  • a sensitive content warning is not hiding the post.

Copy the direct address of your own Quote post and open it in a browser. If the address works, the post still exists. The problem is then probably with indexing, processing, or display of the interaction list.

What can you learn from Quote posts about your post?

Quote posts show what context other people add to your content. You can find questions, agreement, criticism, additions, and examples. That is often more useful than only a total when you want to understand how your message is received.

Do not read only the positive reactions. Repeated confusion can mean your original post did not explain enough or can be understood in multiple ways.

Separate factual feedback from personal attacks. Respond only when it adds value. Use blocking, muting, or reporting when behavior clearly crosses a line.

A Quote list is not a complete public research tool. Protected and deleted content is missing. So also look at direct replies, profile visits, Reposts, and other relevant signals.

Do you also want to understand which Likes are still visible? Read delete all tweets what are your options. If you want to make a post more visible, you can also buy Twitter likes in a targeted way. Always look at content and context, not only at numbers.

A larger relevant audience can lead to more replies and Quotes. If that fits your strategy, you can also buy Twitter followers at SocialKings. Keep publishing valuable posts yourself as well so you can build real conversations.

How do you respond wisely to a critical Quote post?

First read the full comment and the conversation below it. Check whether the criticism is really about your words or about a wrong interpretation.

Respond briefly when you can clarify a fact. Refer to a primary source if that helps. Avoid a long public fight over a small detail.

Does your original post contain an error? Then correct it visibly. A calm and clear correction often works better than pretending the Quote post does not exist.

Do not share a small critical account again with a huge audience if that creates unnecessary attention. For a personal issue, it is usually better to contact the person directly, if that is safe and appropriate.

Only report content that may violate X’s rules. Criticism by itself is not a valid reason for a report.

Which external tools should you avoid?

Avoid websites that ask for your X password and promise to show all hidden Quotes. Protected, deleted, or blocked content should not be made public by an external tool.

Also do not use browser extensions with broad account access without a clear reason. A tool can post on your behalf, collect data, or keep access after you stop using the service.

X’s built-in interaction list and search function are the safest places to start. Check linked apps regularly and remove access for services you no longer use.

Are you downloading an overview for your own analysis? Then save only the data you really need. Do not share personal data with others unless it is necessary.

Can you find old Quote posts?

Yes, you can when the Quote posts still exist and are visible to you. Start with the original post and open the Quotes list. Then use X search with the direct address, username, notable text, and a suitable date range.

Older content does not always appear clearly in a normal profile view. A focused search often works better than scrolling through a profile endlessly.

You cannot restore deleted Quote posts through a normal X function. An external tool also cannot reliably promise access to content that is no longer available.

Do you want to clean up your own old content? First look at the safe options for delete all tweets what are your options before you use a tool that removes many posts at once.

Frequently asked questions about viewing Quote Tweets

Where do I find Quote Tweets of a post?

Open the original post. Tap or click the Repost number or the interaction overview. Then choose Quotes when X shows that tab.

Does this work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. The route is similar on both devices. If the tab is missing in the app, open the same post through x.com in a browser.

Why do I see fewer Quotes than the total suggests?

The total can combine regular Reposts and Quote posts. Privacy settings, deletion, blocks, and other limits can also keep results out of the visible list.

Can I view Quote posts from a private account?

Only if you are an approved follower and have access to the protected post. External tools cannot reliably or legitimately bypass that limit.

Is a reply the same as a Quote post?

No. A reply sits in the conversation under the original post. A Quote post is its own post with comment and a reference to the original.

Can I recover a deleted Quote post?

Not with a normal X function. If the post was deleted and is no longer available anywhere, it should no longer appear in the current Quotes list.

Can I view all Quote posts without an account?

No, that is not guaranteed. X may show some content only to signed-in users. Protected posts are also limited to approved followers.

Which check should you do first now?

Open the original post on the full detail page. Tap or click the Repost number and see whether X shows a separate Quotes tab. If that tab is missing, test the post through x.com and then search for the direct address.

Remember that you can only see public Quote posts and content your account can access. Use the overview mainly to understand the context and reactions around a post. It is not a way to force a complete list of every share or every involved account.
